The Spotted Eagle Ray (Aetobatus narinari) is a cartilaginous fish of the Mylobatidae family. It can be found in tropical regions, between the Gulf of Mexico, Hawaii, off the coast of West Africa, the Indian Ocean, Oceania, and on both coasts of the Americas at depths up to 80 meters (262 feet).
These rays have dark dorsal surface covered with white spots or rings. At the base of the relatively long tail, just behind the pelvic fins, are found are different poisonous spines.
They are mostly solitary, but occasionally swim in shoals. They are ovoviviparous: the eggs hatch inside the female who then gives birth to the young man as a miniature version of the adult.
