It can be found in tropical regions, between the Gulf of Mexico, Hawaii, off the coast of West Africa, the Indian Ocean, Oceania, and on both coasts of the Americas at depths up to 80 meters (262 feet). These rays have dark dorsal surface covered with white spots or rings. At the base of the relatively long tail, just behind the pelvic fins, are found are different poisonous spines. They are mostly solitary, but occasionally swim in shoals. They are ovoviviparous: the eggs hatch inside the female who then gives birth to the young man as a miniature version of the adult. The eagles rays eats small fish and crustaceans, and sometimes digging with his nose to search for food buried in the sand of the sea floor. They were seen jumping out of the water, and at least two occasions were reported to have jumped in the boat, in an accident that caused the death of a woman in Florida. The E. narinari is hunted by a large variety of sharks and humans.
