Family: Oreasteridae.
Common name: Multicolored Knobbed Sea Star or Jungle Starfish.
Syn. Asterias mammillata, Asterias mammillata, Oreaster mammillatus, Oreaster verrucosus, Pentaceraster mamillatus, Pentaceros mammillatus, Pentaceros verrucosus.

Pentaceraster mammillatus is a tropical benthic starfish found in a depth range of 4-15 m on soft substrates in sheltered areas of coral reefs. The members of the Oreasteridae family mainly feed on both epifaunal organisms (colonial and/or encrusting organisms) and surface detritus. It is thought to feed by sucking and ingesting epibenthic felt of microorganisms and possibly organic matter.
