Discovered the oldest species of Allosaurus

It is confirmed: it is a completely new allosaurus that discovered in Utah.
Here was what he looked like: just under ten meters long for almost two tons of weight, tail and long legs with sharp claws, a narrow long skull and characteristic ridges around the eyes. This was how Allosaurus jimmadseni appeared in the flood plains of North America where it hunted its prey, like its relative Allosaurus fragilis. About 150 million years ago. A new species of allosaurus, discovered, as often happens, years ago, but only recently, after long analyzes, studied and classified.
The official presentations of the dinosaur, which come from the pages of PeerJ, are the result of meticulous excavation and analysis work, which began around the 1990s in Utah, in that pit of dinosaur fossils which is the Morrison Formation, a rich and well known region that crosses several states in the western US. Thanks to explosives, helicopters to transport the huge blocks of stone, and dotted finds - first the toes and some vertebrae, then the head - within a few years practically complete skeletons of the dinosaur would have come to light. And it is thanks to the analysis of these bones that researchers have managed to establish, thirty years after the first excavations, the existence of two distinct species of allosaurus in North America. One dating back to 1877 and one in fact new.
To indicate it were some unique characteristics of those remains, which distinguish them from other allosaurs, such as the narrow and short skull with 80 sharp teeth, ridges that run along the muzzle from the eyes and along the entire nose area, and with a binocular vision restricted compared to members of the same genus, such as Allosaurus fragilis. The picture of the new species is completed by a tail and long legs, with three claws per leg. Allosaurus jimmadseni (so called in honor of the paleontologist expert of allosaurs James Madsen) was in fact a predator, the most common carnivore in its environment, experts explain. With an age between 157 and 152 million years ago, it is the most ancient species of allosaurus, which would later be recognized in several collection remains scattered around the world.
 "Recognizing a new species of dinosaur in rocks studied in depth for more than 150 years is an exceptional discovery - commented the paleontologist Daniel Chure, among the authors of the paper - Allosaursus jimmadseni is a great example of what we still have to learn about dinosaurs".
