Tiger's Eye or Tiger Eye Gold 1 Piece 41-70 gr - cm 2.5-5 Raw Minerals Stones Rocks for Collection. Variety of Quartz with compact Crocidolite and Iron oxides. Tiger's Eye is a Chatoyant Gemstone which is usually a metamorphic rock, a variety of Quartz containing inclusions of Crocidolite, a mineral belonging to the Asbestos group. The presence of these isooriented fibers, ranging in color from yellow tending to gold to red-brown, imparts to the mass a particular effect with a silky and brilliant sheen called chatoyancy. It is mainly used as a gemstone for jewelry making usually cabochon cut. The mineral comes mainly from South Africa and although appreciated for its particularity, it does not have much value. Tiger's eye can be confused with some nephrites, or feldspars with similar inclusions. His family also includes the hawk's eye (blue), the bull's eye (red, also called "Bull's eye") and the cat's eye (grey). In some parts of the world, the stone is believed to ward off the evil eye. Roman soldiers wore engraved tiger eyes to protect them in battle.
