Apatite 1 Piece 10-20 gr - cm 2.5-4 Raw Minerals Stones Rocks for Collection. Chlorine Fluorophosphate of Calcium. The term apatites are commonly referred to as some minerals with an ionic structure, such as chlorapatite, fluorapatite and hydroxyapatite. They are characterized by a high melting point (over 1400 ° C) and remarkable hardness. The term apatite derives from the Greek verb apatáo (I deceive) to indicate its deceptive nature. In fact, in history, this stone has been exchanged many times with other minerals due to the very wide range of colors it has, which varies from yellow to electric blue. Moon rock samples collected by Apollo astronauts contain traces of apatite. A closer analysis of these samples conducted in 2010 revealed traces of water trapped in the mineral in the form of hydroxyl groups, leading to an estimate of the water content on the lunar surface of at least 64 parts per billion (one hundred times higher than the previous estimate) and that could be as high as 5 parts per million. If this seemingly small amount of water trapped in the minerals were hypothetically all turned into liquid, it would be able to cover the entire lunar surface with about one meter of water.
