Family: Sphecidae.
Common name:  Asian Mud-Dauber Wasp or Black Mud-Dauber Wasp.
Syn. Pelopaeus curvatus.

Sceliphron curvatum is an insect of the wasp family Sphecidae. Like all wasps of this genus, it is a solitary species, native to some regions of Asia and invasive of Europe.
15 to 25 mm long, it is black in color with yellow and red ornaments. It builds mud nests on the walls of buildings, but very often also indoors, on piles of books, clothes or furniture. Each nest is filled with paralyzed spiders, which serve as food for the larvae. Like all Sceliphron species, S. curvatum is not aggressive unless threatened.
