Eristalis tenax cm 1.5-2 wingspan cm 1.5 Insect Hover Fly Flower Fly Dipterus Brachycera Syrphid.
Family: Syrphidae.
Common name: The Common Drone Fly or Dronefly.
Syn. Eristalis campestris, Musca tenax.

Its common name is due to the resemblance to the honeybee.
Classic example of "Batesian mimicry", which is a harmless Hoverfly that mimics a wasp or a dangerous Cleridae beetle with bright colors similar to signal flavors or odors.
