Aromia moschata cm 4-6 Insect Coleopter Longhorn Beetle, Long-Horned or Longicorns Cerambycidae.
Common name: The Musk Beetle.
Syn. Cerambyx moschata.

Aromia moschata (Linnaeus, 1758) is a beetle belonging to the Cerambycidae family.
The antennae are longer than the insect in males and shorter in females. The body is elongated, of a bright bluish green with copper and golden reflections, with finely knurled elytra. The length of the insect is between approximately 4 and 6 cm.
Aromia prefers warm Mediterranean areas and frequents weeping willow trees, in whose wood the larvae whose cycle takes 2 or 3 years find refreshment.
The adults are particularly active at dusk and emit a characteristic, not unpleasant odor which has earned this insect its scientific name which, translated, means scented with musk. Once upon a time, aromas were often placed in tobacconists to perfume snuff.
