Pontia daplidice Female one wing lenght cm 2.3-2.5 Insect Butterfly Pierid Pieridae.
Common name: The Bath White.
Syn. Papilio daplidice, Papilio bellidice, Papilio belemida, Pieris daplidice, Leucochloe daplidice.


Pontia daplidice is a white and green butterfly of the Pieridae family found in the Palearctic region. It is common in central and southern Europe and migrates north every summer.
The wingspan is 45 to 50 mm. The underside of the hind wings has a greenish spot pattern, easily identifying it from other pierids. The sexes can be differentiated by markings on the forewings
to the Palearctic Region it appears that the butterfly is extending its range westwards along the Himalayas. It is usually found on dry slopes and rough terrain with little vegetation.
The host plants of the larvae belong to the Brassicaceae family and vary depending on the location. They include tower mustard (Arabis glabra) and sea rocket (Cakile maritima).
4 subspecies are recognized. The butterfly lives in the coastal dunes of the Mediterranean, on rocky, hot slopes, etc.
