Delias dixeyi one wing lenght cm 2-2.5 Insect Tropical Butterfly Pierid Pieridae.

Delias dixeyi (Kenrick, 1909) is a rare and endemic species living on Arfak Mountains in the west part of Irian Jaya region on Papua island (New Guinea).
This species, together with Delias bothwelli, may be distinguished from the other members of the group by the absence of the red spot below the cell of the underside hind wing.  It can be distinguished from D.bothwelli by the red subbasal spot and by a silvery white marginal border, from the costa to cellule 3.

Delias is a genus of butterflies in the Pieridae family. There are about 250 species of Delias, which are found in South Asia and Australia.
The Delias genus is believed to have had its evolutionary origins in the Australian region.
Synonyms of the Delias genus are: Cathaemia, Symmachlas, Harpanota, Thyca, Piccarda.
