Origin : Central African Republic (Maka)


Charaxes pleione one wing lenght cm 2.5-3 Insect Tropical Brush-Footed or Four-Footed Butterfly Nymphalid Nymphalidae.
Common name: The Common Orange Charaxes, or Square-Winged Red Charaxes.
Syn. Nymphalis pleione, Philognoma lichas, Charaxes lichas.

Charaxes pleione is an orange and black butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.
The habitat consists of forests and woodland savannah. The larvae feed on Acacia pennata and Acacia brevispica.
