This shrimp is found mainly in rocks from periods between the Upper Jurassic and the Cretaceous. The genus Carpopenaeus is known for four species: Carpopenaeus callirostris; Carpopenaeus longirostris; Carpopenaeus peterbuergeri; Carpopenaeus septemspinatus; Very well known are the Carpopenaeus callirostris, in excellent condition, coming from Hajula and the Hakel formation, in Lebanon (Cenomanian, Upper Cretaceous).
