Turritellidae, with the common name "tower shells" or "tower snails", is a taxonomic family of small to medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs of the Sorbeoconcha clade.
They are filter feeders: this feeding method is somewhat unusual among gastropod molluscs, but is very common in bivalves. The shells of turritellid species have an elongated spiral shape that resembles an auger. These snails hide in mud or sand, moving with their relatively small ambulatory feet.
