Pleasant fossil find of a Gastropoda Turridae Shell from the late Pliocene, a representative collectible sample of appreciable quality, with details of shape of the shell, coils  and siphon. Only a piece, as in photo.

The fossil is supplied naturally, as taken from the field. It can be easily cleaned of sediment that covers it, and if you wish, consolidated with resin paraloid.

The Turridae are a family of gastropod molluscs of the subclass Caenogastropoda.
These species have medium-large shell sizes (usually 20-30 mm, up to 110 mm in height), fusiform in shape, usually with a high whorl and a long siphonal canal. Weak or absent axial sculpture. They mostly live in soft substrates, but some species are also found in rock and coral reef habitats. It can abound in sublittoral and shelf areas. Active predators, scraping prey with their radulae or stabbing them with detachable, needle-like teeth loaded with venom. The family is made up of 22 genera, of which eight are extinct.
