The Pasteur pipette is a chemical tool designed by Louis Pasteur, normally called a dropper.
It is made up of a fairly thin vitreous tube on the top of which, wider than the lower part which is almost a capillary, there is a rubber teat.
The operation of the Pasteur pipette essentially consists in squeezing the teat in order to cause the air contained in the tube to come out, and in immersing the latter in the liquid, keeping the rubber part compressed: releasing it will cause a pressure imbalance to effect of which the liquid will rise into the tube and will no longer be able to come out until the teat is crushed again.
Its use from the original version was then perfected by adding a graduated scale.
